Reading While Parenting Coming Soon!
Stay tuned, my fellow parent readers...
Parents have a lot on their plates these days. Finding time to read in a fulfilling and meaningful way during parenthood may seem near impossible.
How can you find time to read?
Find books that are right for you?
Read in a way that supports your needs?
This is a place to think through some of those questions and more. The fun will start this spring. This is an optional part of the A Wonderful Mess newsletter, which means if you are a subscriber to A Wonderful Mess and you are not interested in receiving this additional reading related content, no worries, all you have to do it opt out by visiting this link here and unselecting “Reading While Parenting”. Bookish content is not dissappearing from A Wonderful Mess in any way but this is where we will be getting into the details of reading during parenthood.
This will start with the launch of the “How to Read in Parenthood” guide coming out at the end of May 2025, which will go to all A Wonderful Mess subscribers. Following the guide, we will be doing a messy summer reading club. The club will include a weekly Saturday email with tips and ideas to support your parent reading life this summer. There will be no assigned reading, number of books to read, or prizes. It will be short, sweet, and fun tackling topics like:
Are beach reads really possible for parents?
An ode to the perfect bookmark
Libraries are for grown-ups, too
Tackling a TBR: How to pick what to read next
More to come on all the details….
Here’s to reading while parenting, it’s imperfectly possible.
I "read while parenting" during the last few moments of the day, lying in bed, the room dark, my tablet illuminating words that either keep me awake or usher me to sleep. Sometimes I'm grateful for an engaging book. Yet I curse it the next day if I stay up too late!
