This week, I read at the pool with my kid! This is was unusual occurrence, my big kid had no camp this week while his siblings were all in camp. But it gave me a glimpse into the future when all my kids are more independent swimmers. I also finally got the new Emily Henry from the library, so I am starting that today.

How is your summer reading going?

I love this. I’ve been doing this more and more frequently and wasn’t sure if I wasn’t being an involved enough mom! It’s better than being on my phone and shows my kids that reading is enjoyable for all of us.

Ok, obviously I love this and am (as always) grateful for the shout out, BUT ALSO I’m laughing because right now everything is about our backyard potions. So, read while they make potions, and then read while the little one is napping and the non-napper is… making a “cookbook of potions” 😂. (But only read a few paragraphs at a time because they are not even 2 and 5 yet, BUT WE WILL KEEP TRYING!)

Potions work out in so many ways. We were making potions last week.

Do you have more than one book on the go at a time?

I almost always do. I have a non-fiction read, fiction book, and an audiobook (which is sometimes fiction and sometimes non-fiction). I like to have options but I definitely have a rhythm--non-fiction is more daytime reading, audiobook for chores and exercise, and fiction in the evening. What about you?

I’m yet to get into audio books but I do listen to radio a lot, when I’m not reading or writing. I mostly read for information, and usually online. As a kid I read most of the fiction in the school library… I miss those days.

Liza is right! The very best way is to turn your kids into readers, too, if possible. Thanks for this fun list, Kathryn!

Yes, it may not look like it did pre-kids, but parents deserve to read, too.

I love this- I recently posted The art of mastering a reading vacation and had one point/tip about children which I got from my mother as I am happily childless- but this is wonderful!
