How cool that you took the time to reflect at the end of last summer and then use that reflection to guide this summer. A really worthwhile practice. Definitely going to try this.
Thank you Emily. Yes, highly recommend yarn to be used as lasers, it is very fun and great for a rainy day. Have fun with your puppy...and your family, of course, too.
I, too, love that you reflected on how your summer went and what you learned! Sometimes I think I enjoy the evaluation period at the end of something as much as I enjoy planning and doing.
We are almost to the halfway point of our summer and it has been exhausting and restful in about equal portions. My hope is that we continue to make connections and community a priority. One kid has a responsibility to see a friend in person each week--either coming to our playgroup events or making his own plans. I want to make space in our schedule to be able to say yes to other people's invitations and questions of "can friend come over?" And to say yes to my kids' ideas of adventure and fun! Another way in which the appropriate balance of who gets to design their days shifts toward them and away from us as parents.
Thank you so much for the ACT Daily Journal shout-out, Kathryn! I am so happy to know that you've found some useful tools in there!
I love Mindful Mom in the Mud, and appreciate the work you do to write it!
Thank you so much Debbie! I love recommending the ACT Daily Journal, it's perfect for parents who are busy.
Great post, especially the part about taking time to live with a ND diagnosis. Equally great suggestion for yarn tag! So cool!
Thank you, Cindy!
This is so awesome! I love the reflection component and what it means for you this year. Also, the laser yarn idea is BRILLIANT.
Thank you, as far as yarn lasers go--desperation for activities leads to creative problem-solving at its finest.

The unexpected benefit of writing. I am so glad to have a record of it!
Laser yarn!!!!
Thank you for this - another helpful post.
We had so much going on the second half of the year that I did not even bother with the Hunger Games roulette that is summer camp registration.
I am going to take the opportunity to try and slow down a bit and do some fun things as a family around town.
And we got a puppy.

Great discussion and great book recommendations. Thanks!
Thank you, Susan!

I love how you are aligning with your intentions and values of making connections and community AND putting more toward them and away from you!
Thank you for sharing your reflections and your new thoughts as you face summer again
We have 1 more week of school and more togetherness time/fewer camps. I am a bit worried about it and hopeful too.
It can be all the things, it has good parts and challenges, too!
